Tasmania's Most Expensive Beer Launched

Moo Brew has released Tasmania’s most expensive beer, with each 330mL bottle selling for $25. Only 672 bottles of the Stout 2007 Vintage Release have been produced.

Head brewer Owen Johnston said that Moo Brew has created another challenging experience for beer lovers. “The Imperial Stout Vintage Release is aimed at showcasing the use of oak aging, a brewing technique that has resulted in a beer style previously unavailable in Tasmania,” he said.

The stout has spent nine months in French oak barrels, followed by a further three in bottle conditioning. Each bottle is filled, capped and labelled by hand, with an individual bottle number. Customers can then register this number, with the option to receive the same bottle number in the 2008 vintage release.

“The 2008 Vintage Release is already in barrel, for release next year,” Johnston said.
