Crown Delivers Beer To Queen

By Annette Shailer

The first bottle of the 2009 Crown Ambassador Reserve has been sent to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to commemorate the anniversary of her coronation on June 2, 1953.

Only 6000 bottles of this hand-crafted lager are made each vintage, with every bottle individually numbered, hand-waxed and presented in a sleek case.

The number one bottle was sent to Buckingham Palace as a pre-release, with the rest of the brew to be launched to the public on August 3.

First brewed in 1919, Crown Lager was originally reserved for visiting and travelling ambassadors and dignitaries, until Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II made her first visit to Australia in 1954, when it was released to the public.

Crown Ambassador Reserve master brewer, John Cozens, said it great to continue to honour the history of Crown through the Ambassador Reserve brew.

“Our links to Queen Elizabeth II are an important pillar and foundation of the Crown brand and a genuine point of difference,” Cozens said.

Crown Ambassador Reserve will be available in 750ml bottles throughout Australia for $69.99. Each bottle contains six standard drinks and 10.2% ABV.
