Taylors Tops Wine Show

Taylors Wines has been crowned Australia’s best winery at America’s prestigious San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC).

The Taylor family’s winery in the Clare Valley is the first Australian winery to have won the best of nation award twice, previously winning in 2007.

To win the best of nation award, a winery must collect multiple awards with their individual wines, with Taylors collecting an impressive 15 awards at the competition.

Some of the awards Taylors took out include a double gold medal for the 2008 Jaraman Riesling and gold medals for both the 2007 Promised Land Shiraz Cabernet and the 2007 Taylors Estate Shiraz.

Taylors Wines third generation managing director, Mitchell Taylor, said the result further reinforces the family motto that ‘the wine is everything’.

“This is a terrific result for our family business at America’s most prestigious wine show. Again it reinforces Australia’s position on the world wine map and we are absolutely over the moon with the result,” Taylor said.

“It’s a special year for us to win the best of nation as we are celebrating our 40th birthday this year. I am so excited to see my grandfather’s vision to take our family’s wines to the world come true.”

The SFIWC involves a panel of 44 wine experts from across the globe gather in San Francisco for three days in mid-June.
