New 3D Coverage From Fox Sports Venues
By Annette Shailer
Following the success of the Socceroos versus New Zealand match and Sam Stosur's French Open tennis final in 3D, Fox Sports Venues will bring 3D coverage of the 2010 X Games 16 to Australian venues today (Jul 30).
All pubs currently subscribed to the Fox Sports Venues HD package are eligible for the 3D coverage.
For the first time, ESPN 3D will telecast outside the USA. ESPN 3D, in conjunction with Foxtel and Austar in Australia, will provide extreme sports fans with eight hours of coverage from X Games 16 in Los Angeles, California.
Fans in Australia can look forward to seeing the best in action sports compete from 10am to 1pm AEST today (Jul 30) and August 1 from 9am to 2 pm AEST on channel 206 on Foxtel and AUSTAR.
During these telecasts, ESPN 3D will debut new 3D cameras, including a 3D camera from inside a rally car, providing a driver's point of view.
"Extending ESPN 3D to Australia reinforces our commitment to provide fans worldwide the best quality sports programming," said Michael Morrison, vice president, ESPN International Asia Pacific.
"3D television has taken off in the United States and around the world and this provides ESPN 3D an outstanding opportunity to work with Foxtel and Austar in Australia to bring this exciting trial programming to Australian sports fans."
This will provide a unique opportunity for marketing and enhanced customer experience by allowing 3D-capable venues to highlight their venue and attract new patrons.
Venues which currently subscribe to the Fox Sports HD package and have 3D capable TVs will be able to give their customers the unique sporting experience.
