Following on from the success of its wine, Australian rock band AC/DC has teamed up with ALDI supermarkets to release its own line of beer in Australia.

The beer will be available in all licensed ALDI stores in NSW and Victoria from 30 September. The release means the beer will be available in time for the Australian leg of the band's "Rock or Bust" world tour, which starts in Sydney on 4 November.

An ALDI Australia spokesperson said: "We’re very excited to celebrate AC/DC's legendary rock status with the launch of AC/DC Beer in Australia. The combination of great German Beer and Aussie Hard Rock just seems like a match made in heaven."

The beer is a pale lager, which has been made by German brewery, Karlsberg, and has been brewed to the "Reinheitsgebot", the German Beer Purity law of 1516.

Available in either a 568ml can for $2.99 or a 5L keg with integrated beer tap for $24.99, AC/DC Beer is available exclusively at ALDI, and will be available for a limited time only.

In 2011 the Aussie rockers released a range of AC/DC branded wines in conjunction with Warburn Estate and then in 2013 they released a limited edition super-premium 2010 Barossa Valley Shiraz.

  1. It should be noted that Karlsberg has nothing to do with Carlsberg of Denmark. It’s a major brewery situated slightly to the North of Bavaria and normally brands its beers Karlsbrau to avoid the obvious confusion issue. Sounds like it will hit the spot, I’ll be looking out for it at my local Aldi in Lismore.

  2. The promotion appears to be over, I haven’t been able to find any in our local Aldi stores in the last two weeks so I guess it has all been drunk, thankfully I managed to get quite a few cans under the belt in the few weeks it was in stock.

It is an excellent beer, better than any of the other Aldi beers really, up there with the best of German and Dutch beers in my book.

They should stock this all the time.
