It has been a busy few weeks for Sydney hotel and bar magnate Justin Hemmes, with his landmark Sydney hotel, ivy, winning late-night trading approval just ahead of 10-year birthday celebrations for sister venue Establishment hotel.

Valid until 2012, the new licence will allow ivy to trade until 4am, although Hemmes has appealed to the Land and Environment Court to have this extended for a further five years.

Meanwhile, birthday celebrations are underway as Sydney favourite Establishment celebrates 10 years in the business with 10 days worth of special events and offers throughout the popular George Street venue.

Commencing tonight (Sep 1) with an exclusive VIP ‘risque’-themed event at Hemmesphere bar, events include a ten course degustation at award-winning est., $10 meals at Main Bar and $10 cocktails at Gin Garden, as well as an open-invitation birthday party at Main Bar next Wednesday (Sep 8).

Hemmes owns a multitude of venues across Sydney including CBD Hotel, Slip Inn and his Merivale hotel group recently acquired the Beresford Hotel in Sydney’s east.
