Local Australian distiller, Tamborine Mountain Distillery has scored big at the Beverage Testing Institute Chicago, taking home platinum, gold and silver medals at the a recent tasting.

Tamborine’s Bucku Whiskey Liqueur scored an impressive 96/100, winning it the Platinum medal. Tamborine also took home gold for Kurumba Rum Liqueur, Quandong Gentain Bitters Liqueur and Wild Forest Plum Liqueur, while their Chai Liqueur achieved silver.

Owner Michael Ward said that he was “ecstatic” over the win.

“This is the first time this has ever happened in Australia’s history by a true Australian company, owned, run, manufactured and bottled in Australia by Australians and we’re damn proud of it,” said Ward.

“This is an absolutely remarkable achievement when you are up against some of the biggest and best in the world” he said.

The Beverage Testing Institute was founded in 1981.
