A philanthropic organisation launched by South Australian wine fraternity Barons of Barossa is offering grants for projects and concepts that help promote the Barossa region.

The Barons Foundation is fully-funded by the Barons themselves and chaired by writer Philip White.

“This first release of sponsorships will probably include four or five grants of several thousand dollars each,” he said.

“We’ll consider more modest ideas and plans of a longer-term nature as well. If it’s good for the Barossa, it’s our job to know about it and encourage it.”

The Barons of Barossa was founded in 1974 by a group of Barossa identities with the aim to promote ‘all things Barossan’.

The charter of the Barons is “to promote and foster the Barossa, its wine, gastronomic and viticultural enterprises, and to preserve and maintain the heritage, lifestyle and traditions of the Barossa”.

Applications close 5:00pm May 22 and can be emailed to info@baronsofbarossa.com or posted to Barons of Barossa, Box 760, Tanunda SA 5352.
