Cariel vanilla vodka and Irish drinks master Philip Duff last week (Sep 27-Oct 1) hosted two exclusive masterclasses in Sydney and Melbourne.

Held at Galley Room, Melbourne and Zeta bar, Sydney, the intimate gatherings included cocktails, tastings and an in-depth and entertaining presentation by Duff on the history of vodka and vanilla.

“Vodka gets a bit of a bad wrap,” said Duff. “But we don’t really hate the category, we hate the marketing behind it all. Vodka in itself is a wonderful spirit.”

The original Swedish vanilla vodka, Cariel has had a cult following in London and Melbourne since its launch in 2000, recently re-launching in Sydney earlier this year.

The sessions also saw the announcement of a new unflavoured version, about to be released to the Australian public.
