Foster's Group CEO John Pollaers is set to depart following the successful acquisition of the brewer by SABMiller.

Pollaers will step down on December 16, but will be available to provide advice to SABMiller during the first few months of next year, Foster's announced.

In a statement released today, SABMiller Asia managing director Ari Mervis was revealed as the new head of Foster’s.

Foster’s Group chairman David Crawford paid tribute to the strategy put in place by Pollaers over the past two years.

"John’s strategy realised significant benefits and put the company in a strong position to realise significant shareholder value," he said.

Pollaers said he was excited and looking forward to new challenges.

"The past two years have seen big changes within the business and I am proud to have led the company through this period," he said.

“The demerger of the wine business, a significant restructure, and the relaunch of the iconic CUB brand have allowed this business to believe in itself again and succeed."
