One of Australia’s most renown cocktail establishments, Eau-de-Vie, has received international recognition by being nominated in three different categories for the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards.

Eau-de-Vie has received nominations for World’s Best New Cocktail Bar, World’s Best Cocktail Menu and World’s Best Drink Selection, and is the only venue in the southern hemisphere to receive a nomination.

“We’ll definitely be celebrating with a few bottles of Champagne and some Blue Label,” Eau-de-Vie owner, Sven Almenning, said.

“We’re not only thrilled for Eau-de-Vie, but also for the wider community of bars in Australia.

"Hopefully these nominations show that the small bar movement is offering patrons a more diverse choice of venues, while putting Australia on the map globally as a world class bar and drinking destination.”

In a sign that the Sydney bar is keeping esteemed company, it is also one of only three venues to received three nominations.

The other two are New York’s Employees Only bar and The Langham’s Artesian bar in London.

Nominees for the 2011 Spirited Awards were chosen by members of the cocktail industry with the ceremony to be held in New Orleans on July 23, as part of the five day Tales of the Cocktail festival.

The Spirited Awards began five years ago as a way for Tales of the Cocktail to recognise talented individuals and establishments that are helping advance the craft of the cocktail.

The news of Eau-de-Vie’s nominations created a buzz of excitement from the local bar industry, with congratulations and praise reverberating around social media networks.

In addition to toasting their international recognition, Eau-de-Vie is also rejoicing in the success of two of its bar team members, with Philip Gandevia recently coming 2nd in the 2011 World Class Finals, and Max Greco making it to the finals of the Time Out Shakedown competition.
