Modus Operandi is launching its new core beer at its Northern Beaches brewery in Sydney this weekend.

Famous for its big hoppy beers, Modus is launching a Session IPA that’s packed with flavour but is more conducive for those wanting to have a beer and still drive.

“We are really excited about this beer because you know us – we love our bold, hoppy, memorable beers – and we have managed to keep all the Modus personality in this 4.1 per cent ABV Session IPA,” Modus’ Jaz Wearin told Beer & Brewer.

“We chose to bring in a session IPA because we think it is important to have a balanced core range in terms of ABV.”

Of course crafting a session IPA that’s full of flavour can be challenging.

“One thing we were really conscious of, was bringing in a beer that still represented what Modus relishes in; bold, hoppy and balanced beers, using high quality yeasts, malts and hops. This can be tricky with a Session IPA, but Dennis, our head brewer, has achieved this through careful malt and hop choices, which deliver a super flavourful Session IPA,” explained Wearin.

“The use of US heavyweight hops, Simcoe, Citra and Chinook gives this beer a full IPA flavour, with a great citrus and melon nose, finishing with a nicely rounded dryness. Waistlines and drivers licenses are celebrating everywhere!”

Modus is hosting a tinny party today at the brewery where people can enjoy Session IPA cans straight off the line at the brewery to take home.

Session IPA cans will be sold exclusively at the brewery from tomorrow until Sunday, before hitting Modus stockists on Monday.
