Small Acres Cyder is releasing a 2013 vintage of its popular Cat's Pyjamas cider this week.

The 2011 vintage of this cider won Champion Australian Cider at the 2013 Australian Cider Awards and subsequently sold out quickly.

Owner and cider maker James Kendell said: "After winning the top cider gong in Australia, the 2011 sold out in a matter of weeks, and we're expecting a similar result for the 2013 vintage.

"We named it The Cat's Pyjamas after the 1920's saying meaning the best that you can do. It's certainly not your average cider."

The Cat's Pyjamas is only produced in years when the apples are of exceptional quality, containing the right fruit and acid balance required for employment of the traditional winemaking technique 'Methode Traditionelle'.

"This product is a true labour of love, truly hand-built," Kendell added.

"We take on some of the traditional techniques used in winemaking such as malolactic fermentation, lees stirring and oak barrel maturation. The bottles are hand-riddled and hand disgorged."
