Bar Suspended Over Island Opens Tomorrow

By Rebecca Harris

A mobile bar that towers 50 metres above the ground will be launched over Sydney’s Cockatoo Island tomorrow (November 13).

Suspended from a crane, the McKenna Air Bar is a fully equipped bar featuring a bartender, DJ and room for 22 people.

Offering 360-degree views, the McKenna Air Bar has scheduled flights on fixed-wing aircraft at take off every half hour and include a complimentary drink.

At the base of the Air Bar is ‘McKenna City’ – a party area complete with a park, outdoor cinema, multiple bars and even its own Chinatown.

The McKenna Air Bar will travel around Australia over the coming months, popping-up in Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Tickets are free but must booked in advance online.
