The Quarryman’s Hotel, Sydney, will be hosting its second annual cider festival on Saturday 14 March 2015.

Nick Tindall, general manager of Laundy Hotels, said it’s a no brainer to host an event like this.

“Cider is one of the fastest growing drink categories at the moment with Australian breweries leading the way," he said.

According to marketing and promotions coordinator Ethan Dean, the hotel prides itself on bringing new and exciting experiences to the traditional pub scene.

"This is the reason why you don’t see the conventional draught beer list here and why one day each year cider completely takes over," he said.

On the day, Australian breweries such as Young Henry’s, Prickly Moses, Batlow Cider and Bilpin Cider will have stalls at the Quarryman’s to showcase their offerings.

"To go along with the cider, there will be a pig on a spit in the beer garden as well as an Apple Bobbing Competition with delicious prizes up for grabs," Dean told TheShout.

The cider category in Australia is now worth over $480 million, and volume is growing well ahead of value: 12.4 per cent and 4.9 per cent respectively (AZTEC MAT 25/01/15).
