The Australian Hotels Association (AHA) in New South Wales has announced the finalists for its 2011 Awards for Excellence, with the embattled NLG Hotel Group nominated for a record 36 awards.

NLG’s portfolio of 35 venues was forced into receivership earlier this month (October) with all but three continuing to trade.

Aside from a number of gaming awards, NLG’s Willoughby Hotel is in the running for Best Traditional Hotel, Plantation Hotel for both Best Family Friendly Hotel and Best Sports Bar, along with Kooringal Hotel and Mt Annan Hotel.

“As a management team, the diversity of our expertise across all revenue streams has been highlighted with the 36 finalist nominations,” said NLG Hotel Group general manager – marketing & commercial, Alistair Flower, told TheShout.

“Our daily operations highlight the strength in character, culture, and unity within our staff and venue teams.”
