The liquor and hospitality industries were well represented in the winner’s circle at last night’s Sydney Business Awards, with a small bar, an online wine company and an iconic club all recognised.

While one of the major awards of the night, Small Business of the Year, went to CBD coffee favourite Two Black Sheep, Bowlers' Club at 99 on York took out the Pubs, Hotels, Nightclubs and Venues award.

Two relatively new ventures were also acknowledged with Cracka Wines winning the Food and Beverage Retail award while Corridor in Newtown was crowned as the stand-out Small Bar.

Last year Grasshopper raised its profile significantly by taking out the inaugural Small Bar Award and winning one of the overall top honours: Small Business of the Year.

According to City of Sydney, this year’s awards were the biggest and best to date, with 640 businesses nominated and almost 67,000 votes across 22 categories.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said every business should feel proud of playing a crucial role in making Sydney the cultural, creative and economic powerhouse it is today.

"I would like to congratulate all the winners of this year's Business Awards along with the hundreds of nominees, and thank them for their incredible contribution to the life of our fantastic city," the Lord Mayor said.
