William Grant & Sons has been named the Whisky Distiller of the Year as part of Whisky Magazine’s ‘Icons of Whisky 2011’ awards, which are industry nominated and judged by an international panel of experts.

This follows the success the company had last year when it was crowned ‘Distiller of the Year’ and ‘International Distiller of the Year’ at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) Awards.

In addition to being named the leading distiller in the world, the William Grant & Sons (WG&S) brand Tullamore Dew 12 Year Old was awarded an Icon for ‘Best Irish Blended Whiskey’.

“We’re delighted that Tullamore Dew 12 Year Old has been recognised at this highly respected competition, adding yet another amazing award to our burgeoning collection! We’ll be sure to celebrate this come St Patrick’s Day – along with thousands of Tullamore Dew fans around the world,” Tullamore Dew’s brand director Shane Hoyne said.

WG&S purchased the Tullamore Dew Irish whiskey brand from Ireland’s C&C Group last year and in February this year took over the local distribution of the Tullamore Dew range.
