Absolut Vodka has embarked on a project called Absolut Colours, which has already donated $10,000 to the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BGF).

Through sales of a limited edition bottle featuring the rainbow flag during the first half of 2009 and a contribution from distributor Pernod Ricard Australia, Absolut brand manager Monica Hart was able to present a cheque for $10,000 to BGF president, Bev Lange in Sydney.

“We are pleased and proud to be able to present this cheque to the BGF as a small contribution to their good work in not only raising awareness about gay rights issues and the important need to maintain the fight against HIV/AIDS, but their continued support and care programs of those suffering HIV and AIDS related illnesses,” Hart said.

Lange said the donation from Absolut Colours would make an important contribution to directly helping BGF’s clients – those living in poverty with HIV.

“If you want to equate this donation to the impact that it can have, $10,000 will pay for the course fees of 80 clients who are studying to return to work, or for six month’s supply of essential, life-saving HIV medications for over 100 clients," she said.
