New Zealand’s Mount Brown Estate took out Wine of Show at the 20th annual Boutique Wine Awards, announced on Friday, along with a flurry of other trophies.

The trophies were presented at a lunch event at Sydney’s Doltone House, by chairman Huon Hooke.

Judges awarded 15 trophies, 43 gold medals, 106 silver medals and 336 bronze medals from a total of 1000 entries, 10 per cent of which came from New Zealand.

Mount Brown Estate’s Grand Reserve Pinot Noir 2013 won the trophies for best Pinot Noir, Red Wine of Show, Estate Grown and Produced, and Wine of Show.

Hooke congratulated the Association of Australian Boutique Winemakers on its 20th anniversary and the 20th Boutique Wine Awards was another fine success.

“The high level of trophies was possibly in part a tribute to the recent run of successful vintages,” Hooke said.

White Wine of Show, the Max Lake Memorial Trophy was won for the second consecutive year by Western Australia’s Geograph winemaker, Darryn Rigg, for his 52stones Barrel Select Chardonnay 2014.
