Record-breaking numbers of industry stakeholders came together in Tasmania last night to celebrate the winners of the 2025 Hospitality Tasmania Awards for Excellence.

With more than 850 people gathered at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, the state’s best pubs, bars, restaurants and hotels were recognised for setting new benchmarks in food beverage and tourism across 44 categories. Winners were determined from a record number of entries, with 213 venues submitting a total of 625 nominations.

Launceston’s The Plough Inn matched its 2024 record by taking out four awards, including Hotel/Pub Tavern of the Year – Metro for the third consecutive year. The venue also retained Best Sports Bar and Best TAB titles, and earned recognition with the Best Disability & Inclusion Access Award (Hospitality Venue). Additionally, The Plough Inn was awarded bronze in the Best Restaurant (In a Pub or Tavern) category, alongside The Bush Inn.

Meanwhile, Longley International Hotel also went back-to-back as Hotel Pub/Tavern of the Year – Regional and claimed its third consecutive Best Live Music or Entertainment Venue (Pubs/Taverns) award. The pub also received silver awards for Best Draught Beer Quality and Best Outdoor Hospitality Experience.

Other gold awards handed out to pubs the Stanley Hotel in the Best Restaurant (In a Pub or Tavern) category, while the Beach Hotel Burnie was awarded gold for Best Gaming Venue. A multitude of silver and bronze medals were also awarded to the state’s pubs.

Hospitality Tasmania chief executive Steve Old reflected on the strength and innovation of Tasmania’s hospitality scene: “Every year, these awards remind us just how creative, resilient and community-minded our hospitality professionals are. Whether it’s a regional gem or a bustling metro favourite, Tasmania continues to punch above its weight.

“The energy and camaraderie at the gardens tonight reflected the strength of Tasmania’s hospitality community. These businesses don’t just serve food or provide a bed, they create experiences that  put our state on the map.”
