The Royal Hotel in Ingham has been sold by the Quagliotto family after 65 years of ownership.

The Royal Hotel in Ingham, in Far North Queensland, has been sold by Alan and Sharyn Quagliotto in an off-market sale. The rural pub has been owned by the Quagliotto family since 1959.

The hotel was originally purchased by Alan’s father, and for more than six decades, it has remained under the family’s stewardship, serving as a central gathering place for the Shire of Hinchinbrook.

Alan, who took over management from his father, has been at the helm for decades, ensuring the Royal Hotel continued its tradition of warm hospitality, great food, and a welcoming community atmosphere. The decision to sell was an emotional one, with Alan feeling the deep sentimental significance of parting with a venue so closely tied to his family’s history.

The sale was facilitated by Kath Brassington and Joseph Ganim of Savills Australia and New Zealand, who noted that the pub was popular with both locals and tourists alike.

“The hotel has long benefited from a steady flow of locals, tourists, and adventure seekers, making it an attractive investment in the thriving North Queensland tourism and hospitality sector,” stated Brassington.

Situated approximately 110km north of Townsville, the Royal Hotel boasts a prime location in the heart of Ingham’s town centre, with convenient access to some of Australia’s most breathtaking natural attractions. Just a short drive away lies the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, the popular Hinchinbrook Island, and Wallaman Falls, Australia’s highest single-drop waterfall.

The Royal Hotel has long been a staple for the Ingham community, offering a public bar, bistro, beer garden, function room, gaming room with 15 EGMs, 16 accommodation rooms, and a manger’s residence.

The incoming purchaser is expected to give the hotel a renovation, as well as incorporate some additional amenities. However the Quagliotto family’s legacy with the hotel will not be forgotten.

“As the Quagliotto family farewells their 65-year legacy at the Royal Hotel, they express deep gratitude to the patrons, staff, and community who made it special,” stated Ganim.

“The hotel’s future remains bright, blending tradition with innovation while preserving its authentic Queensland pub experience.”
