The Tooheys NSW Flood Relief Initiative has raised $60,000 for GIVIT to support flood recovery in affected regions of New South Wales, particularly the Hunter Valley and Mid-North Coast.

The fundraiser, which ran from 12 June to 9 July in partnership with North Coast Hotel Group (NCHG), C.ex Group and AHA NSW, saw venues encourage patrons to support the cause by purchasing a Tooheys schooner.

For every schooner sold at participating venues, Tooheys, NCHG and C.ex Group each contributed 50 cents to GIVIT, which provides essential goods and services to flood-impacted communities. AHA NSW and Tooheys each donated $25,000 to the initiative.

Greg Watt, Lion’s NSW field sales director, commented: “For over 150 years, Tooheys has proudly backed the New South Wales community and are committed to playing our part in disaster recovery.

“We’re extremely thankful to have such generous partners: the NCHG, C.ex Group and the AHA NSW, who have a likeminded mission in helping our local communities in the Mid-North Coast during these difficult times. We’re glad to be able to do our bit for the state, and hope this donation eases the lives of locals who’ve had unthinkable difficulties during recent times.”

Director of liquor and policing at AHA NSW, John Green, added: “AHA NSW was proud to partner with Lion, the NCHG and C.ex Group to raise money for those communities hard hit by the floods earlier this year. The results show what can be achieved when the industry works together to help those who are doing it tough. A great result.”

GIVIT’s CEO Chris Staines says these funds will provide affected communities with the essentials to recover, including grocery and fuel vouchers for families experiencing financial hardship, as well as furniture, white goods and other household essentials for those moving back into repaired homes and businesses.

“GIVIT is so grateful to Lion for driving the Tooheys NSW Flood Relief initiative to raise funds for the GIVIT NSW Flood Appeal. It was wonderful to see the industry come together with Lion, NCHG, C.ex Group and the AHA NSW to help people in the Hunter and Mid-North Coast regions who were impacted by severe floods earlier in the year,” Staines stated.

“These donations have a huge impact on people doing it tough following a disaster and GIVIT is grateful to everyone who helped raise these much-needed funds.”
