Balmoral Hospitality has acquired almost 1000 sqm of prime retail space at Aqua At The Waterfront, Shell Cove, on the south coast of New South Wales.
The acquisition comes almost a year after the group purchased a 1400sqm greenfields site within the precinct to construct The Waterfront Tavern. They will now operate the entire ground-floor dining precinct. The 1000 sqm of space will feature up to eight F&B tenancies fronting the harbour’s edge.
Balmoral Hospitality partners Joel Fisher and Andrew Denmeade have a long history in the Illawarra region, having operated a few hotels including the Central Hotel in Shellharbour, under their previous hospitality vehicle, DenFish hotels. This new acquisition further embeds them in the local community.
“With the tavern and dining precinct, we are in a great position to shape the future dining and socialising experience at The Waterfront, playing a long-term role in the local community while creating a world class tourist destination for visitors from afar,” stated Denmeade.
Shellharbour City Council Mayor Marianne Saliba welcomes Balmoral Hospitality’s commitment to the blossoming Shell Cove community.
“It is a testament to the quality of The Waterfront development that Balmoral Hospitality has agreed to take control of the dining precinct and expand its interests in the area. The group really understands and shares the vision we have for Shell Cove,” says Cr Saliba.
“The Waterfront dining precinct is set to become the next King Street Wharf, next to a harbour which will be a third larger than Sydney’s Darling Harbour upon completion.”
Balmoral Hospitality are now on the look-out for high-quality complementary offers and great new concepts to fill the dining precinct. Fisher and Denmeade are keen to hear from F&B operators who are eager to be a part of the dining precinct, and are open to everything from tapas bars to microbreweries.
Simone Dyer, development director — Shell Cove for Frasers Property Australia, said the Waterfront dining precinct will complement the adjacent 270-berth marina within the masterplanned community.

Both the Waterfront Tavern and greater dining precinct are expected to open in mid-2021, and create between 150 and 200 casual, part-time and full-time jobs.
