For 20 years the Bayfield family has held an annual fundraising lunch for the Children’s Cancer Institute, raising millions of dollars to help the fight against children’s cancer.

As with pretty much everything in 2020, this year’s event as a bit different and instead of the usual industry-wide gathering, the family hosted ‘Virtual Knock Off Drinks’. This saw people join the event through Zoom, to say cheers and join in the Liquor Industry Silent Auction.

As well as bidding on items, a number of organisations including CUB, CC Amatil, Aristocrat, Stone & Wood, LMG, William Grant & Sons, Pernod Ricard, Drinkworks and Diageo donated their tables to the fundraising effort.

The total amount raised at the event so far is $162,380.  This amount of money is the equivalent of funding the life-saving tests for minimal residual disease for 62 children to identify a child’s likelihood of release for Leukaemia.

The Bayfield family said: “This certainly is a success shared by all of the industry who have so passionately advocated and joined us on this journey to support Children’s Cancer Institute’s mission to one day find a cure for all cancers.

“We have been contacted by a few passionate partners that were not able to engage last night and would still like to help contribute – so we may even build on this tally.

“Thank you all for playing such an active role and a huge ‘cheers’ to a successful virtual drinks. We can’t wait until we can all get together again – hopefully very soon.”

You can still make a contribution to increase this tremendous amount raised, simply contact Cameron Bayfield to find out more.
