The Australian Hotels Association NSW (AHA NSW) has this morning announced the launch of its own legal firm, Hospitality Legal Pty Ltd.
The industry law firm is part of the AHA NSW’s strategy to solidify its place as the leading hospitality industry body. AHA NSW president, Scott Leach, said that Hospitality Legal would complement the services already provided to AHA NSW members.
“Hospitality Legal has been developed by the industry for the industry, to provide legal services to hospitality employers.
“From the outset, Hospitality Legal will focus on industrial relations and employment law, an area which is attracting immense political and regulatory interest at the moment.
“This is also an area in which the AHA NSW’s legal team is rightly regarded by the industry and regulatory bodies alike as a leader.”
The legal firm, which was six years in the making, is headed up by Phillip Ryan, AHA National/NSW’s Director of Legal and Industrial Affairs – a role that he will also continue in.
Hospitality Legal will be able to advise and represent hospitality employers – from all over Australia, not just AHA NSW members – on a variety of industrial and employment matters. For example, if a company was misusing their market power, or pushing through unfair commercial contracts, hoteliers and other hospitality employers could use this industry service, rather than seeking outside counsel.
“It is another step on the path of continual evolution for AHA NSW to maintain our position as the leading industry association for the hospitality industry,” stated Ryan.
Hospitality Legal’s website will be live in coming days.
