Meals on Wheels South Australia has launched The Big Brunch Drive – an annual fundraiser designed to bring people together over a brunch for a purpose – thanks to the support of major sponsor, Arkaba Hotel.

Since 1954, Meals on Wheels SA has delivered over 50 million meals to South Australians, with the charity striving to promote independence, enhance wellbeing and foster social connections by ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious meals and meaningful social interactions.

Running from 1-8 June 2025, the Big Brunch Drive invites community organisations, schools, workplaces and friendship groups to register and host their own events to raise funds, helping Meals on Wheels continue to provide care, connections, and community to those who need it most.

The Arkaba Hotel is proud to be the fundraiser’s major sponsor to support this community initiative, reinforcing its ongoing dedication to giving back and supporting South Australians in need.

“We’re so proud to be launching the Big Brunch Drive. Communities thrive when people feel a sense of belonging, connection and purpose, and we’re proud to play a role in building those connections!” stated Meals on Wheels SA CEO, Sharyn Broer.

“We’re incredibly thankful to the Arkaba Hotel for their generous support as our Major Sponsor for The Big Brunch Drive, helping us raise the funds we need to continue providing essential meals and reducing social isolation for those who rely on our services.”

Managing director of the Hurley Hotel Group and owner of the Arkaba Hotel, Jenny Hurley, is honoured to support the initiative.

“I’m so pleased to support a charity that plays a crucial role in delivering nutritious meals, social connection, and independence to thousands across the state,” Hurley said.

“As the major sponsor, the Arkaba is proud to stand alongside this iconic organisation and help raise awareness and funds to support their essential work. Our sponsorship is just one way we can show our appreciation for the tireless work of their volunteers and the impact they have in our local community every single day.

“We encourage all South Australians to get behind this event and host a brunch at your home or business,” Jenny concluded. The Big Brunch Drive is running from 1-8 June. You can find more information on the fundraising initiative here.
