The Dee Why Hotel on Sydney’s Northern Beaches has undergone a multi-million-dollar refurbishment to create new spaces that pay homage to the pub’s rich history.
Run by the Bayfield family since the late 1970s, the $3m redevelopment has introduced two new major features.
The first is a retro-inspired sports bar, Mr B’s, named after the late Neville Bayfield which will boast the peninsula’s largest TV sports wall which includes a 10m LED screen.
The second addition is Jade’s, which is a greenhouse-inspired bistro and private event space showcasing contrasting emerald green walls, soft pink ceilings and art deco-inspired furnishings to create a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere.

COO Kaine Bayfield said a renovation of that size and scale is a huge undertaking.
“We have a four-generation legacy at Dee Why Hotel and we are so proud of what we are going to deliver to the community,” he said.
“The sports bar is going to offer one of the best sports-viewing experiences in Sydney and the feel of the entire venue will be lifted.”
Designed by Surry Hills-based firm Richards Stanisich, the refurbishment will also transform the wider hotel with formerly dark interiors opened up to be filled with natural light.
A refreshed seasonal bistro menu will accompany the redesign, offering hearty favourites and elevated pub classics at accessible prices.
The hotel’s weekly burger specials will also receive an upgrade, with new flavours and larger portions. First opened under the Bayfields’ ownership in 1977, the hotel has remained in family hands for nearly 50 years.
The group also operates The Belrose Hotel and Bayfield’s Liquor Superstores at Dee Why and Belrose.
