The AHA WA has relaunched its annual competition to find WA’s Best Steak Sandwich.
Now in its twelfth year, the competition sees pubs, taverns, restaurants and bars compete to see who can produce the ultimate steak sandwich.
Kitchens across WA will be pitted against one another to be crowned the state’s best in May. Almost 50 venues are participating across WA, from Esperance to Broome and everywhere in between.
Last year’s winner was The Merrywell in Perth, (shown in image).
Venues have put forward their best creations in a bid to receive votes from the public and secure their place as a finalist.
Four finalists will be chosen from both the regional and metropolitan areas to participate in a live steak sandwich cook-off, held at the AHA(WA) Hospitality Expo at Crown Perth on 14 and 15 May 2019.
AHA WA CEO Bradley Woods said the competition sparks increasingly vigorous public debate across the state.
“Last year a lamb sandwich won the metropolitan competition and talkback radio went into meltdown,” Mr Woods said.
“Each year we see more inventive creations emerge from kitchens across WA and patrons are being treated to a huge variety of different versions of this iconic meal.”
“There aren’t many meals that trump a good steak sandwich and as a result of this competition raising the bar each and every year, we undoubtedly have the best steak sandwiches in the country.”
“We encourage people to get out and enjoy these masterpieces over the next four weeks.”
A full list of participating venues can be found at www.hospitalitywa.com and the public can cast their vote there until 15 April 2019.
