When Western Australian pub group, LocalsCo, embarked on their first greenfield venue, Treendale Farm Hotel, they wanted to design the pub from the ground up to offer something for everyone, but with an especially big emphasis on family dining and outdoor spaces.
The vision was to create a perfect match between the 10,000sqm venue and the fast-growing local community that surrounded it in Australind, which is 12km north-east of the Bunbury CBD, which has seen many young families settling in the area.
The venue opened in late 2020, but according to LocalsCo owners Dave Allan and Lawson Douglas, the Treendale Farm Hotel project was several years in the making.
“We have five venues now, and all of them are large format and have a heavy family focus,” Allan says. “Instead of a regular pub, we wanted to go above and beyond and do something really special.”
LocalCo’s hotel portfolio includes The Subiaco Hotel in Subiaco, The Bayswater Hotel in Bayswater, The Exchange Hotel in Kalgoorlie, and The Rose Hotel in Bunbury. Treendale Farm Hotel, the groups first new build, cleaned up at the 2021 AHA-Aon Hospitality Awards for Excellence, winning Best Regional Hospitality Venue, as well as the New Venue award, the Retail Bottleshop award and the Family Dining award.
The venue went on to win at a national level in February in the Best Family Dining category, and all of these awards served as a real motivator for the team during some challenging Covid times, according to Allan and Douglas.
When it comes to catering for the kids, the venue features three playground areas and a large family restaurant. The children’s’ play areas include a massive outdoor adventure playground and a large area of outdoor lawn space.
