The Duxton Pubs Group has sold The Brompton Hotel to The Dean Group of Hotels after it made a compelling off-market offer for the heritage-listed Adelaide pub. The Dean Group will take over operations of the award-winning venue on Wednesday 11 December.

Brompton Hotel was acquired by Duxton Pubs in September 2021, and closed in December that same year for renovations.

Mark Condi, CEO of Duxton Pubs Group last week announced the plans for the venue and its staff throughout the transitional hand-over period.

“The Brompton continues to operate as a function space for events and is still taking bookings until the official settlement and handover in the coming weeks. Our employees will continue their careers with the Duxton Pubs Group at our other venues,” he said.

The Brompton Hotel was presented with the Best Metropolitan Restaurant General Division award at the AHA Awards in 2023. As Duxton Pubs farewells the award-winning hotel, it plans to continue to elevate its 25-venue portfolio. Its latest projects include a major renovation to modernise The Saracen’s Head Hotel in Adelaide as well as a cocktail and whisky bar launch at The Cremorne Hotel.

“We are unwavering in our goal to be one of Australia’s pre-eminent hospitality groups,” Condi said.

For The Dean Group, the Brompton Hotel is its latest investment, following its acquisition of the Kincraig Hotel in regional Naracoorte in October 2024.
