What can Australian liquor suppliers and retailers learn from China’s New Retail revolution? That’s the subject of the opening keynote at the inaugural Drinks Innovation Summit, to be held in Sydney’s Hyatt Regency Hotel on 29 October.
Delivered by Matthew Brennan, an expert on both WeChat, China’s famous super app, and TenCent, China’s largest tech giant, the keynote will explore the use of robotics, AI and digital payments in retail and suggest how Australian liquor businesses can best benefit from cutting-edge developments in technology.
Brennan’s presentation will also explain how drinks suppliers can use WeChat to market brands to the Chinese community in Australia and to sell directly into China.
Brennan is the latest speaker to be confirmed for Drinks Innovation Summit, a one-day conference organised by Food & Beverage Media, owner of TheShout and National Liquor News.
Group Publisher at Food & Beverage Media Paul Wootton suggested there was no one better than Brennan to explain what Australian businesses can learn from China’s new retail concepts and innovation.
“We’re thrilled that Matthew, a globally-renowned expert on China’s New Retail concept, is flying down from mainland China to deliver this keynote,” Wootton said. “Everyone involved in marketing and selling liquor will find his presentation fascinating.”
Drinks Innovation Summit, which is aimed at drinks suppliers, marketers, producers and retailers, will explore concepts such as AI, augmented reality, smart packaging, proximity marketing, social media, e-commerce, Big Data, crowdfunding and other technology-enabled innovations that are already beginnning to revolutionise the way liquor is produced, marketed and sold in Australia.
Other headline speakers confirmed for the event include David Smith, Managing Director of Diageo Australasia; Mauricio Vergara, Managing Director of Bacardi-Martini Australia; Cathi Scarce, Acting CEO of Coles Liquor; and Jamie Cooke, Co-Founder of Stone & Wood.
