The Koala Tavern on the outskirts of Brisbane has reopened after a $3m refurbishment with a new family bistro and playground for the kids.
The Redlands pub has also invested in a new beer garden and an entertainment-centred public bar to host local and touring acts, showcase live sport and to host trivia.
Capalaba locals are assured pub staples like schnitzels and steaks remain and a specialist menu has been designed for children and seniors.
The bistro will also donate funds to charity.
The Koala Tavern will give $1 from the sale of every parmigiana on Wednesdays through the weekly fundraising promotion to help save koalas.
Venue Manager, Nicki Lawrence, said the tavern looks forward to welcoming the community back.
“We’re so overjoyed that we can now pay it forward to the community that has supported us over the years, giving people of all ages an exciting space to socialise, be entertained and enjoy a good feed,” she said.
The venue will celebrate its re-opening over the weekend of November 25-27 with a range of giveaways, free food and entertainment for children like face painting and a koala handler.
