Liquor & Gaming NSW has issued its latest gaming machine data update as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to boost transparency on gambling activity in local communities.
Crucially the detailed report ranks nearly 1500 of the most profitable gaming venues in NSW and also breaks profits down per gaming machine. This data shows the Railway Hotel in Lidcombe is the most profitable in NSW across all electronic gaming machines operating within the hotel.
The results also show a year-on-year increase in net profits of 7.4 per cent for hotels but just 0.6 per cent for clubs against the same six month period in 2017. This contrasts with a net profit fall for the previous six months of 6.2 per cent for hotels and 3.4 per cent for clubs.
The latest reports cover 1 December 2017 to 31 May 2018 for clubs and 1 January 2018 to 30 June 2018 for hotels.
The data also shows the number of gaming machines in operation fell overall by 109 compared to the previous six-month period. A fall of 181 in hotels was offset by a rise of 72 machines in clubs.
Compared to the previous six-month period, the number of gaming venues also fell, with the number of club gaming venues falling by 10 and the number of hotel gaming venues falling by 19.
Year-on-year there was an overall fall of 813 gaming machines across clubs (which lost 547) and hotels (which lost 266). The number of club gaming venues fell by 18, and the number of hotel gaming venues fell by 33.
