Family-owned Ghanem Group has taken over the Fox Hotel at Fish Lane in South Brisbane, with plans to revitalise the venue as a dining and entertainment precinct.
Ghanem Group, with restaurants and pubs across Melbourne and Queensland, has begun works on transforming Fox Hotel into a multi-level dining, events and entertainment precinct.
The revitalisation of the heritage-listed landmark has been hotly contested not just due to its location on Melbourne Street, at the heart of the Fish Lane arts, food and entertainment precinct, but also due to its beautiful architecture.
A full interior redesign and fit-out by Space Cubed Design Studio intends to respect the hotel’s legacy, conserving heritage features and Art Deco charm, while delivering an exciting collection of modern dining and drinking experiences and multiple cuisines under one incredible roof.
The patron experience will unfold over four discrete floors, each of which captures an era of the hotel’s eclectic past, delivering a multi-venue experience at one outstanding location.
“This is our largest and one of our most exciting projects to date,” stated Ghanem Group director, Adonis Ghanem.
“The growing community of this area has long-awaited the return of this legendary venue, and to have the opportunity to bring the next era of dining and entertainment to this iconic site is a true honour. This is a project that we are very much excited about.”
The renewed Fox Hotel is aiming to attract a wide variety of guests who can enjoy the venue in multiple ways. Experiences range from a ground-level public bar with bistro dining, a gaming lounge with adjoining bottle shop, two dedicated function spaces, a sophisticated late-night cocktail lounge, and a rooftop terrace with expansive views of Brisbane’s CBD and performing arts district.
Fox Hotel joins the growing Ghanem Group hospitality portfolio across Melbourne and Queensland, which encompasses Brisbane restaurants Byblós, Blackbird Bar, Dining & Events, Bisou Bisou, Boom Boom Room, Donna Chang, Iris Rooftop and Lúc Lắc; as well as the Commercial Hotel Boonah in regional Queensland; and Byblós and Le Bon Ton in Melbourne. Fox Hotel is slated to reopen in late 2025.
