The Ranges Hotel in Melbourne’s southeast the centre of firefighters’ attention
Fire broke out at the heritage-list Ranges Hotel in Gembrook shortly after 6am this morning, multiple news outlets have reported.
The heritage-listed hotel was built in 1896 in Gembrook, near Emerald and Cockatoo, over 50km to the south-east of Melbourne’s CBD and is the town’s only pub.
No injuries have been reported. The Country Fire Authority (CFA) confirms the building was “fully involved” but there is no threat to the community.
13 fire trucks were reported at the scene by 7.30am with crews looking to contain the fire by 8am.
“Once the building is safe investigators will work to determine what caused the fire,” the CFA said.
The hotel describes itself as “a family friendly Bistro and Bar with hints of original details dating back to the turn of the century.”
