McGuire Hotel Group’s $16 million venue, Yarrabilba Tavern, is expected to create more than 60 jobs for the community once completed midway through next year.
McGuire Hotel Group operations manager Matthew McGuire said the Yarrabilba community suits the group’s identity and will be situated in the Logan City suburb’s growing retail hub that includes a Coles shopping centre.
“We are extremely proud to be bringing our longstanding expertise of more than 100 years in the hospitality industry to Yarrabilba. The industry is part of our DNA and this community attracted us because of its significant growth and its exciting potential,” McGuire said.
“The tavern site, which is in a prime location to service the community, has allowed us to design a top-class facility that we feel the residents of Yarrabilba will really appreciate.
“The relaxed ambience produced by the design, with its attention to bespoke fixtures and landscaping, goes well beyond what is normally offered within a suburban setting and will be an exciting addition to our portfolio of 10 hotels in Queensland.’’
The tavern will boast multiple dining spaces, family areas, a kids’ zone, dedicated sports bar, a large outdoor lounge, and a facilities for meetings and functions. It will also cater to events like weddings for up to 80 guests.
Lendlease development director for Yarrabilba, Michelle Wooldridge, welcomed the addition of the tavern, saying it will be an essential addition to the planned growth for the community.
“The new tavern will be a major milestone for our community and a fantastic destination for Yarrabilba residents and others from the surrounding areas to socialise, relax and connect,” Wooldridge said.
“It’s perfectly aligned with our vision to make Yarrabilba a truly unique and self-contained community for people of all ages.
“It also supports our commitment to creating local jobs, which is underpinned by Lendlease’s plans for a future 100-plus-hectare mixed industry and business precinct and a thriving town centre with an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 square metres for retail.”
The tavern is one of many planned projects that will fit in the Yarrabilba’s $11 billion master planned community and will be the eleventh venue in McGuire Hotel Group’s Queensland portfolio.
