Solotel has given Public House Petersham a major refresh, reinforcing its position at the heart of the community with a brand-new childrens’ play area and enhanced backyard.
Celebrating the pub’s role in the community, the revamp embraces family-friendly spaces, revitalised outdoor areas and an elevated food offering. Central to the transformation is the dedicated kids’ play area, complete with soft play, activity tables, sensory walls and a sprawling mural by local Sydney artist Angeline Drinan.
Flowing seamlessly from the inside out, the open-air backyard retains a family-friendly focus, featuring chalkboards, picnic tables, oversized umbrellas and foliage, setting the scene for long lunches and family gatherings.
Meanwhile, the signature beer garden has also been revitalised with an updated colour palette and furniture, catering to a variety of occasions with longer communal tables and smaller, more intimate settings.
Elliot Solomon, CEO of Solotel, describes the transformation of Public House Petersham as a reflection of the group’s commitment to the Inner West and the local community.
“PHP has always been a local favourite and with the area evolving, it was only right that we evolved with it. We’ve put a lot of thought behind making the venue feel fresh and welcoming, from the new colour palette and logo to the expansive backyard and kids’ play area,” he stated.
“PHP is a place locals can count on, whether it’s for a family dinner, a milestone celebration or a couple of drinks with friends.”
Other key spaces at Public House Petersham include the Sports Room and upstairs lounge room with a wraparound balcony, where patrons can enjoy an updated menu of woodfired pizzas; Mediterranean-style share plates such as polenta fries and zucchini flowers; and hearty favourites like chicken schnitzel and pappardelle with braised lamb. As a dog-friendly venue, pet treats are also available, including pup cakes and poochy bowls.
Drink-wise, the new menu features house-made cocktails, slushies and spritzes – highlights include a Strawberry and Yuzu Cobbler and Frozen Watermelon Margarita – designed to enjoy in the expansive outdoor spaces, alongside beers and wines.
While the food and beverage offer at Public House Petersham has evolved with the community, so too has the events calendar, with extensive kids’ programming now on offer. From pizza-making classes and arts and crafts to reptile shows, the venue has launched its biggest School Holiday Program yet, taking place from 27 September to 12 October.
