Moreton Hospitality’s The Beach Hotel is set to get a new look with renovations to commence on 1 April.
The Stradbroke Island venue, off the coast of Queensland’s Moreton Bay, will have its final day of trade on 29 March and is expected to reopen before the end of the year.
While the apartment accommodation will also be refreshed, it will remain open and available for bookings alongside the group’s three bottle shops that will be unaffected by the works.

The improvements will include a renewed bar, bistro and deck area with modern amenities and an upstairs deck extension with views of Cylinder Beach to double as a function and communal space.
Patrons will be able to enjoy a brand-new LED screen display for sport and outdoor movie nights, along with an outdoor stage for live music and an improved gaming space.
The venue will also undergo improvements to accessibility with a new courtesy bus service from Dunwich Port directly to the pub.
Moreton Hospitality CEO Tony Hazel expressed his enthusiasm for the project.
“The venue is due for essential service upgrades. The renovation addresses this, as well as enhancing operational efficiency and delivering an improved experience for our customers. We are especially excited about weatherproofing the deck, which will ensure year-round comfort and usability for our guests.”

KP Architects and Aizer Building Solutions are leading the renovations, which Hazell said promises to enhance the community hub.
“The Beach Hotel has been loved by locals for many years. We’re incredibly proud of the foundations this venue has established within the community, and we don’t want to take that away. Our aim is simply to enhance these strong foundations, refreshing the space and re-establishing it as the community hub —both for locals and visitors alike. We’re excited to bring this vision to life and make The Beach Hotel a place that continues to celebrate Stradbroke Island’s unique character for generations to come.”
Once complete, the renovations are expected to positively contribute to tourism and the island’s local economy by stimulating businesses, driving demand for accommodation and creating more employment opportunities on Stradbroke Island.
During the closure, some staff will be reassigned to roles within the company’s other venues like the island bottle shops or venues on the Gold Coast, including The Beach Hotel Broadbeach and Cora Restaurant and Bar.
Moreton Hospitality is also working on a temporary pop-up bar solution while the renovations are underway.
