The Kootingal Hotel and the Eatons Hotel, two venues in regional New South Wales, have been acquired under new ownership. Gary Gaffney has bought The Kootingal Hotel while Dale McNamarra claimed the Eatons Hotel in time for the new year.

Gaffney has been operating The Kootingal Hotel in the New England region under a lease arrangement for the past two years, before acquiring the freehold. The venue offers two dining spaces, a beer garden area used for function events, with a playground for families. There is a TAB and pool table area, plus 10 poker machine entitlements. The Kootingal Hotel also offers 11 accommodation rooms.

The Eatons Hotel in the Hunter region’s Muswellbrook, was bought by McNamarra following its public campaign. McNamarra also owns six other freehold pubs in the surrounding areas of Singleton, Lochinvar, Maitland, Branxton and Muswellbrook.

The Eatons Hotel has 25 accommodation rooms and high street land holdings. The venue will undergo a capital works program and is due to re-open early to mid-2025..

Both transactions were handled by HTL Proprerty, with Xavier Plunkett commenting on the volume of pub sales being made as the year draws to a close.

“The sale of the two traditional country pubs comes at a time of frenetic year end activity, and which transcends geographical preference as we’ve managed equal numbers of regional and metro pub sales in multiple states these past four weeks.”

The sale of The Kootingal Hotel and the Eatons Hotel are the latest regional NSW pub sales  following on from the announcement of the sale of The Cabarita Beach Hotel in New South Wales Far North coast earlier this month.
