As storms and flooding in parts of Queensland continue to cause devastation for communities, XXXX is partnering with The Pass to raise funds for those impacted.
From 28 April to 19 May, $1 from every schooner of XXXX Gold sold at 85 pubs across Queensland will be donated to GIVIT, a charity partner tasked with managing donations of essential goods, services and funds.
The same Support Schooners initiative last year raised more than $100,000 in partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
Lion Queensland’s Sales Manager, Marc Woolnough, said the company’s XXXX brand has been a ”mate to the state” for over a century.
“So much of Queensland has been impacted by natural disasters this year, including in Western Queensland where many farmers and communities have experienced a once in a generation flood event,” he said.
“In partnership with The Pass, the Support Schooners initiative is one way we can directly support those in the community who are facing difficult times from the floods.”
In March, residents affected by Cyclone Alfred had cases of XXXX Gold delivered by the XXXX Can Van, in a move that aimed to provide relief and bring a sense of community after such devastation.
GIVIT CEO, Chris Staines, said many people are still doing it tough right around the state.
“GIVIT is grateful to XXXX and their customers for supporting communities that have been impacted by storms and flooding across Western Queensland,” he said.
“Funds raised from this initiative will deliver essential goods and services to these communities.”
A similar initiative was launched earlier this month by Carlton and United with Great Northern donating up to 500 kegs to 200 pubs across Queensland to raise money for flood victims.
“The Great Shout” plans to raise more than $200,000 which will be distributed by Rural Aid to flood victims in Queensland’s centre and west.
