P&V Paddington

P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants is partnering with wine tech innovators Enomatic for a month-long tasting series in-store and at L’Avant Cave.

The series will run from the end of June until 3 August and will be pouring ultra rare wines by the glass, allowing customers to dip into P&V’s cellar without committing to a full bottle.

There will be a weekly rotating lineup of small-batch, back-vintage, offbeat and hype-worthy wines unlikely to be found open anywhere else, all served perfectly preserved thanks to Enomatic’s state-of-the-art pouring system.

The first round of ultra-rare wines will be unveiled on 27 June and from there, the month rolls on with weekly in-store tastings and appearances from winemakers.

P&V has committed to opening some rare international bottles from Italy’s cult Barolo legends Rinaldi and Cappellano, Jura icons Ganevat and Overnoy, and near-impossible-to-find-by-the-glass pours from Australia’s Sami-Odi and Wendouree.

The lineup of producers will continue to grow as the month unfolds with guests also settling into L’Avant Cave, the wine bar attached to P&V’s Paddington store, to experience the tasting alongside a menu of paired snacks and small plates.

Mike Bennie, co-owner of P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants said the experience is about making exceptional wine accessible and fun.

“This tasting series is a total game-changer for us. It means people can come in and try the kind of rare, wild, and wonderful wines we usually only whisper about across the counter – and here they are by the glass, without the pressure of finding the wine, getting on allocation lists or paying full price for a bottle; all of this and in a fun setting.”

The partnership with Enomatic’s wine pouring setup ensures each glass is served at the right temperature and freshness.

The system makes it easy for venues to offer aged wines, premium pours, and under-the-radar varietals, without the risks commonly associated with by-the-glass wine lists.

David Grant, General Manager of Wine Pouring Systems, the exclusive distributor of Enomatic in the Oceania region is excited by the partnership.

“This is a first for P&V, and a really exciting way to showcase the incredible, often hard-to-find wines they have access to,” he said.

“The Enomatics will allow customers to explore cult producers and unique styles that might otherwise be out of reach. It’s a rare chance to taste some truly special wines in a relaxed, accessible setting.”
