Lion Beer Australia has confirmed a restructure has taken place with the appointment of a single marketing director and the departure of two marketing directors.
Gerard Smith has been appointed to the role of marketing director, most recently working for meat processor JBS Primo as general manager of sales, marketing as well as research and development,
A statement issued by Lion Beer said, “Gerard previously held a range of sales, marketing and general management positions at PepsiCo in Australia, New Zealand the United States”.
Lion has confirmed the departure of Ben Slocombe – marketing director responsible for brand, shopper and planning as well as Tanya Marler – marketing director responsible for category, innovation and communications. According to Lion, the appointment of Gerard Smith now centralises accountability for marketing into the one role, impacting these two previous roles.
“On behalf of Lion, we offer our great thanks to both Ben Slocombe and Tanya Marler for their many achievements and contribution to the success of Lion over fifteen and five years respectively. They leave a great legacy which we will continue to build upon,” Lion managing director, James Brindley said.
