The 13th Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival will grow further in 2020, adding Gooreen Street to the venue to cater for the Festival’s record popularity.
The Festival, which will be held on Saturday 21st March between 11am – 6pm, will now be staged on the Batman Street and Gooreen Street and in the grounds of Mercure Canberra to house an even wider range of premium craft beer and cider exhibitors during the event.
Up to 250 beers and ciders will be available for tasting and visitors will be able to take part in
beer/cider food matching sessions, hear guest speakers and meet the brewers. A range of dining options, entertainment and family activities will be available throughout the day.
Canberra’s rapidly emerging brewing scene will be reflected in the presence of BentSpoke Brewing Co, Capital Brewing Co, Jono’s Jerky and others, while interstate exhibitors include many of Australia’s most renowned breweries such as Sydney Brewery, Lord Nelson Brewery, Grand Ridge Brewery, Pirate Life, Coopers, Mountain Goat Beer, Modus Operandi and James Squire. Specialist cideries such as Alpine Cider, Frank’s Cider and The Apple Thief will exhibit their range of ciders.
Special events for this year’s festival include:
12.30pm: Meet the Cidermaker with Sydney Brewery, Franks Cider & Byron Bay Wild Cider
2.30pm: Beer & Meat: try two beers from Sydney Brewery matched with two slow cooked meats from Smokin Hot N Saucy to provide a very tasty beer-food matching experince
Canberra Craft Beer & Cider Festival organiser, Jenny Farrell, said that the event offered an
unparalleled opportunity to taste the best brews in Australia.
“Where in the world can you enjoy five tastings, special events, entertainment, and over 250+ beers on offer for only $18?” she said.
“it’s a brilliant atmosphere to enjoy beer and cider tasting, and with the extension of the venue to Gooreen Street, it is a very relaxed, fun and friendly environment to be on a Saturday afternoon.”
Once again, Funds will be raised once again during the Festival for Rise Above Capital Region Cancer Relief, a locally based group that provides support for over 300 cancer patients. In addition, people will be able to make donations to the Rural Fire Service when making online advanced-purchase bookings.
The expansion has been made possible as a result of a grant from Australian Capital Territory Events, allowing the Festival to attract more interstate visitors.
Tickets are now available for $18 pre-purchase (via Moshtix) or $25 at the door (a booking fee applies).
