The Liquor Stores Association of Western Australia (LSA WA) will hold its 29th annual Lion Liquor Industry Awards on 11 October at the Pan Pacific in Perth.

With just over one month to go, time is running out to cast your votes for your favourite stores, staff, and sales representatives. Voting closes next Wednesday, so Peter Peck, CEO, LSA WA, is urging the industry to get involved and have their say.

“The most important aspect of the evening is to celebrate people from within the industry and using the Employee of the Year award as an example, it’s really encouraging and uplifting for an employee to know that their employer has gone beyond just paying wages and is recognising them to the industry on their quality of service and dedication,” he says.

The Employee of the Year award was introduced last year to replace the Young Liquor Retailer of the Year. The idea was to make this award more inclusive and provide the opportunity for any employee of a liquor store to be nominated and recognised for their hard work and commitment to the industry.

The inaugural Employee of the Year award was won by Guy Southern from Copper & Oak last year, who said it was a humbling experience.

Peck continued: “For some people, winning an award like Employee of the Year can be the pinnacle of their career. Being peer-nominated and then chosen by the industry as being the best of the best is such an uplifting achievement.

“It’s important that we don’t forget the people who are at the front of our businesses, who day-to-day are greeting, educating and servicing our customers. Whose level of service ensures that we continue to grow a relationship of loyalty with our customers.”

Voting closes on Wednesday 11 September. Click here to cast your votes.

Speaking of the change in venue for 2024, Peck said that a change is as good as a holiday and that the Pan Pacific is going to be an exceptional location for the Western Australian liquor industry’s night of nights.

“The Pan Pacific is an iconic venue for Perth and the staff has been bending over backwards to accommodate us and ensure that this year’s awards are going to be the best yet,” he said.
