On the latest edition of the Packaged podcast, host Peter Kapsanis sat down with the newly elected chairman of the Liquor Stores Association of Western Australia (LSA WA), Steve Nicoloff.

With over a decade of experience with the LSA, Nicoloff discussed his views and insights on the direction of the independent liquor store space; the main priorities for the organisation going forward; and shared what’s in store for this year’s 30th annual liquor industry awards.

He also spoke candidly about his family history in liquor where Nicoloff’s father ran pubs in the late 1970s, but once deciding to start a family, turned to liquor stores. Nicoloff said his mother was still working at the store at eight months pregnant so it’s safe to say that’s where his liquor journey began.

“If you believe that babies take on outside influences and what they can hear, I’ve done it [worked in liquor] since before I was born.”

Open, honest and a straight shooter, Nicoloff shares his passion for the industry and his commitment to championing independent liquor.
