Retail Drinks Australia has announced the appointment of a new role, with Sahil Prasad set to enter the organisation as Senior Director, Corporate and Government Affairs.
Prasad joins Retail Drinks from the Shopping Centre Council of Australia, where he worked in advocacy for major shopping centre owners, managers and developers. He also brings over 10 years of experience in policy, advocacy and politics, as well as eight years of experience in the liquor service and fine dining sector.
Previous experience has seen Prasad also work in senior roles for national industry bodies, Government departments and various Ministerial offices in New South Wales. In these roles, his duties included to manage policy development and be an industry point of contact for consumer affairs, tourism, trade, justice, planning and environment portfolios.
Julie Ryan, Retail Drinks CEO, said Prasad’s significant expertise in government from his previous work experience would be invaluable to the organisation.
“Following a thorough search and vetting of candidates, we are thrilled to announce Sahil’s appointment and look forward to him joining Retail Drinks’ senior management team later this month,” Ryan said.
“Sahil’s previous experience working as an adviser to multiple Ministers in the NSW Government, as well as his intimate knowledge of the current retailing environment, will be an enormous asset to Retail Drinks as we continue to grapple with a vast range of policy issues affecting packaged liquor retailers around Australia.
“Sahil’s appointment further bolsters Retail Drinks’ policy and advocacy credentials and will ensure that the organisation is well-placed to deliver positive legislative and regulatory outcomes for the retail liquor industry.”
Prasad is set to start in the role from March 23.
