Squealing Pig has today announced it will release a Pinot Noir Gin, the second spirit in the New Zealand winemaker’s range.
The new gin is infused with 12 botanicals and Squealing Pig’s Pinot Noir, featuring berry fruit flavours that match the deep ruby coloured liquid. It will be exclusively available to consumers in Australia from July, with an unveiling 13 June on World Gin Day at the virtual Fever Tree Gin and Tonic Festival.
Part of the Treasury Wine Estates (TWE) portfolio, Squealing Pig’s Pinot Noir Gin is set to further expand the brand’s growth and recognition, which saw it win several categories of the Australian Liquor Industry Awards last year.
TWE ANZ Marketing & Category Director Ben Culligan said: “Squealing Pig is renowned for its approach to demystifying the wine category and crafting products that appeal to long- time loyalists and new consumers alike. Having experienced double-digit growth since launching in 2010 Squealing Pig continues to help drive extensive growth within the wine category and we’re proud to expand our current offering.”
This is the second wine-gin product from Squealing Pig, which entered the cross category sphere last year with its Rosé Gin.
“With the gin boom showing no signs of slowing down, the release of a Squealing Pig Pinot Noir Gin follows the successful 2019 debut of our Rosé Gin and is another exciting opportunity to attract gin lovers to the world of wine and vice versa,” Culligan said.
Like it did with the Rosé Gin, Squealing Pig has again teamed up with drinks expert Jason Crawley for the release of the Pinot Noir Gin, and he will be showcasing the new product at the virtual Fever Tree G&T festival on Saturday.
“I’m a big fan of the Squealing Pig Rosé Gin, so when I heard a Pinot Noir Gin was coming, I couldn’t wait to try it and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Ruby red and bursting with flavour, this is a striking gin that I look forward to creating and celebrating with on World Gin Day,” Crawley said.
Crawley’s recommended serving suggestion is a Pinot Noir Gin and Tonic with ice, garnished with a slice of orange and a sprig of mint. However, he also said it’s a gin that holds its own and can be enjoyed equally neat on the rocks, or in a gin cocktail.
The Squealing Pig Pinot Noir Gin is now available to order from TWE, in a 700ml bottle with a RRP of $55.
