One of the most notable shifts in consumer behaviour in the last year was the bigger than ever migration to the online space, driven by necessity in the conditions of the pandemic.
This caused great growth and booming results for online liquor retail offerings, including Good Pair Days. But the trajectory for the online retailer was already looking positive before COVID-19 reached our shores, seeing Good Pair Days take out the Retail Drinks Industry Award for Online Liquor Retailer of the Year in 2019.
National Liquor News sat down with Cassie Jones, Brand Marketing Manager at Good Pair Days, to talk about how the business sets itself apart from others in a competitive online environment, and what this strategy has meant during the pandemic when the online space was key.
Jones said the key to success for Good Pair Days is its solid and unwavering mission to open up the world of wine for consumers, using cutting edge technology and product to strive for the goal to be the most customer focused retailer in the market. Providing experiences through digital means was something that consumers were looking for pre-pandemic, but Jones said its become even more important to listen to these online needs to shoppers and deliver them in the best way possible.
In terms of the impact of such a philosophy, Jones said growth at Good Pair Days has been astronomical. In the year after they won the Retail Drinks Industry Award, revenue grew 250 per cent YOY, and is in even more growth now. There has also been growth in other areas of the business, including customer referrals and social media channel engagement.
To be recognised as Online Liquor Retailer of the Year pre-2020 and the huge explosion of online retail was very meaningful for Good Pair Days, and also cemented that it was on the right track while unknowingly moving into an unprecedented year.
Jones said at the time the business was new in relation to well established retailers that the company greatly respects, so to receive recognition amongst them was an honour.
