Melbourne bar Asian Beer Café has introduced what it believes is a first for Australia: 12 different cocktails on tap in its bar.
The venue, which is run by the Retail Savvy Group, owner of Father’s Office and The Shaw Davey Slum, has worked with Pernod Ricard to develop the offering, which the venue believes will prove advantageous in terms of speedy dispense and consistency of drinks.
“We have been practicing and perfecting the art of tapped cocktails at Father’s Office now for two years behind the scenes and believe we have come as close as ever to doing just that at our sister bar Asian Beer Café,” said Sam Hatherley, Retail Savvy Group’s head cocktail bartender.
Anna Carosa, managing director of the Retail Savvy Group, added: “Now we’re able to pour cocktails just as fast as a beer from the tap – meaning much faster service, coupled with our already incredibly low-priced cocktails.
“Chris Leftley, of Pernod Ricard, has been working tremendously close with us in establishing this cocktail tap experience and all cocktails will be batched with the range of Pernod Ricard back bar.”
The cocktails range from the familiar – like the pina colada and the fruit tingle – to house specialities – like the Nocopia with house made vanilla vodka.
Asian Beer Café sourced its cocktail tap system from Andale, one of Australia’s leading suppliers of beer dispensing equipment.
